Publicly Funded Education Matters
Maintaining and improving publicly funded education is critical to Ontario’s future. Students deserve a real plan and real government investment so they can succeed.
Three areas that need immediate attention are:
Ensure safe and healthy schools.
Address the staffing crisis.
Provide the resources and supports that students need.
Ensure safe and healthy schools
Safe and healthy schools are crucial to students’ futures. However, increasing incidents of school violence mean more students and staff are feeling unsafe. Students need immediate and improved access to mental health resources, and professional services and supports. We also need to address the physical state of many school buildings, to ensure everyone working and learning in our schools is safe and healthy.
Address the staffing crisis
Every student in Ontario deserves a fully staffed school, with qualified and certified professionals in every class to help them learn and reach their full potential. Ontario needs to ensure that we can continue to recruit and retain the necessary talent to deliver world-class education for Ontario students.
Provide the resources and supports that students need
Every student in Ontario deserves the opportunity to succeed. This requires sustained funding for resources and supports to address students’ diverse needs. This investment is critical to ensuring the success and well-being of students today, and the future prosperity of Ontario.
